June 8, 2009Because we spent a good bit of time on Monday afternoon just making faces at Lil Miss and having her make them back. And making her laugh and laugh and laugh at us.
She's started sticking her tongue out at you if you do it to her (sometimes). And she's also "giving high fives" and playing with her hands a lot. She kind of claps and she wrings her hands as well as chews on them like crazy.

June 9, 2009She watches EVERYTHING. She likes shadows and black and white things (there's a poster of the Eiffel Tower in our living room that she is simply enthralled with) and things that move -- fans, her toys on her bouncy chair, us. She loves sounds and moves things that make sounds -- I have the cutest video of her playing with a rattle the other day that I'll have to put us soon. She can't exactly always pick things up on her own, but if I put them in her hands, she gets a death grip. She likes outside and the sun but doesn't necessarily like the heat. She likes faces. She likes Mommy making funny faces. She likes tickles and kisses. She likes baseball and she likes books. She adores her Daddy.
And she still loves her Moo Cow.

June 10, 2009She's been so good at work recently. She always is. I'm starting to wonder if she somehow realizes that "work" is where we need to be good, because she's saving her grumpies her home. She's had a couple of pretty major fits this week -- I think in part cause it's very very hot here. Or sometimes it's cause she's fighting sleep. They're stressful because I usually don't know what's wrong and she can't exactly tell me, but we get through it and then she goes back to being her cuddle bug self. And it's not every day and it's not for very long, but Lil Miss can throw a temper tantrum. (Then again, so could her mother).
June 11, 2009She's actually sleeping rather well. She goes to bed about nine pm and then wakes up about four or four thirty. Sometimes she'll wake up for a bottle at some point during the night, but for the last week or so, she's pretty much been sleeping through the night (well, as much as waking up at four thirty is "sleeping through the night". But she's usually getting a good seven to seven and a half straight hours of sleep, which seems pretty impressive to me.) I'm not quite as jealous of Miss Mare and her wonderful sleepers.
Also, she's started doing this thing at work that impresses me too. Charles brings his dog, a full grown poodle, to work a lot. Her name is Sarah Belle and she's really sweet and gentle. She'll sniff at Lil Miss, but mostly? She just leaves her alone.
But in the last week or so, Lil Miss has started reacting when she hears Sarah Belle -- when Sarah Belle barks or when she hears her running down the hall. You would think she'd turn towards the sound, right? Nope -- she looks directly at the edge of my desk -- the place where Sarah Belle would first appear in her line of vision whenever she comes around the desk. And then she coos and waits for the dog to appear.
I was rather impressed with her putting that together -- that the sound meant that the dog would appear in that place rather soon, you know?
We have a smart baby.
