cutting the hairs and watching history

May 16, 2009

I wish you could hear the sound that goes with the above picture. It's this adorable little cooing sound that's just the absolute cutest thing in the whole world. I love that sound -- I think it's one of my new favorite sounds in the world (that and her "dinosaur" sound).

It was a pretty good day. Lil Miss was very good. We went and got my hairs cut this morning (yep -- it's pretty short. If this tells you anything -- I donated to Locks of Love, meaning I cut at least 10 inches off -- dry). Jimmy hates it. Mainly because he doesn't like short hair on girls. He's actually a little upset with me because he told me he didn't want me cutting it all off, but I thought he meant all off, like pixie cut all off. That wouldn't look good on me, so I'd never do that. It's right about my jaw line. But that's apparently too short. So he's grumpy that I cut it after he told me not to, but I keep saying he'll get used to it.

I like it.

At the Vandenburg.

After getting the hairs cut we run a couple of errands and then headed into Old Town to check the mail and messages for work (since we were there already) but most importantly to get Moo Cow. After that, we had about forty five minutes to kill before our bus came through, so we walked down to the Truman Waterfront. There's this big old retired military ship, the U.S.S. Vandenburg, there. They're going to sink it off the coast of Key West and make it an artificial reef where people can dive and stuff. I realized that this is a bit of Key West history that Lil Miss is alive for, but won't remember. So I got some of the tourists down there to take a picture of me and Lil Miss so I could prove to her that she did get to see the Vandenburg when it was above water -- even if she doesn't remember it!

After we got home, Lil Miss took a small nap (long enough for Mommy to do the dishes and clean up a little bit) and then got up to be played with and cuddled all afternoon. The switch to soy formula seems to be going well. She seems to like it enough and I don't think it upsets her tummy as much. She has a much easier time with her messy diapers and doesn't seem to be as gassy. So this may be the trick.

She has put herself on a schedule though, so she's a grumpy butt from about eight until she finally falls asleep, usually around nine. She fights sleep for almost an hour -- I guess she thinks she's going to miss something?

Sleeping in her pack n play.

So one of the many things we inherited from our neighbor Natalie was a pack and play for Lil Miss. Obviously she hasn't really used it yet, as she's not big enough to really need it yet. She still sleeps in the bassinet with us in our room. But when we got home this afternoon, I was doing some stuff in our room and didn't want to wake her, so I laid her in her room. I was going to put her in the second bassinet, but decided to see how she liked the crib.

She seems to like it. She slept just fine in it. Putting her in and getting her out is a little harder on Mommy's back, but it's not bad. And she seems comfortable so yay!

Yeah, again, don't feel like loading all the apartment photos. At some point, I really will put them up here.

Also, I'll try to get some photos of the hair cut tomorrow. I like it. I hope y'all do too. I'm sure Jimmy'll get used to it -- it's just very very different (I'm glad Lil Miss is too young to really freak out about Mommy looking so different!)

And now? Sleep.

yes, a morning update! (cause mommy was sleepy last night)

May 15, 2009

Smiling and giggling and laughing -- Lil Miss was feeling much better yesterday! Mommy not so much, but Lil Miss is better and I'm hoping I'll be better soon. She was such a happy and cuddly baby yesterday and it was a nice change from the fussy sick baby I'd had for the past few days. We changed her formula (to soy) and it seems to be sitting a bit better. She hasn't really been spitting up at all and her tummy seems to be settling down. Her Daddy has problems with digesting milk, so I wonder if Lil Miss is lactose intolerant. I'll have to talk to her doctor about it.

Being a sweet little observant thing on the bus.

We went to work yesterday. Charles wasn't there (on his way out of town) but there were a number of things we could get done -- including starting a bill that we'll be working on this weekend because Charles won his case that was in trial this week! Yay! And our client was awarded attorney's fees, which means that I get to create a second bill that covers everything that has been done in this case (this case has been around for seven years -- if we hadn't won, we weren't going to bill the client for EVERYTHING. With this? Yep. You do. Everything. Every little moment. And guess who gets to recreate it? So much fun. Really).

So we went to work and Lil Miss was, of course, so very very good. But Mommy did I bad thing -- I left Moo Cow on my desk. Lil Miss hasn't screamed at me for it, but she was not very happy on the bus. She would reach for him (and last night when she was going to bed) and he wouldn't be there and she's fuss for a minute. So we're going to go down and get it this morning (after I get my hairs cut. Yup. Getting them cut). If it's not too yucky, we may walk around for awhile.

Daddy's feeling lots better and worked again yesterday and today. It makes him tired, cause, well, he ride on rough water and lifts jet skis all day, but he says he's not letting it stress him out too much and that since he's not working as many days, it's okay.

I'm trying to get him to go see Wolverine with one of his friends cause I know he would like that. And they're (he and some of his friends) going jet skiing one day this week, which he'll love. Doing it for fun, not just work. So we'll see.

Oh, and when I feel like sitting here and uploading all the pictures (cause it takes a bit -- so probably this afternoon when Lil Miss is napping), I've taken pictures of the apt. So I'll give y'all a walk through.

Love you all!

Being a cutie -- like always. I think she was looking at Zeus.

mommy does NOT like being sick

May 14, 2009

It was another very long day. Mommy is officially sick -- headache, stomach hurting and throat killing me. Woke up this morning feeling horrible and Lil Miss didn't seem to feel much better. So we took Daddy to work (he's filling in at Blue Lagoon again, but not as many days (only 4 a week) and promises that if they start stressing him out again he'll leave for good) and then Lil Miss and I went down to work to see if Charles had left anything for me (he's in trial this week). We finished up what he'd left for me and then came home cause I felt horrible and she was fussy, I think her tummy still hurt.

On the way home, we stopped to see Daddy and let him know and a guy he works with said his son went through the same thing and they switched him to soy formula and that helped. So we're trying that. She eats it just fine and I can't tell if her tummy hurts less, but she wasn't quite as fussy this afternoon and she's asleep now.

We'll see.

Looking at her Daddy. It's one of her favorite things to do.

So Lil Miss and I came home. I was hoping to maybe get a nap, but she decided that wasn't happening. She was happy to sleep when I was awake, but the second I would try to nap, she'd wake up screaming. Never failed. So I gave up and just cleaned the house and walked her a lot and read to her and played with her. We had "Mommy and Me" time today. Lots of it. And while I love it, all I wanted was sleep.

Guess I should get used to this, huh?

So Lil Miss has learned, however, to put herself back to sleep if something wakes her up, which I think is cool and a good thing for her to know. Someone a week or two ago suggested that we start putting her in bed when she's sleepy and almost asleep, but not quite there yet, and it would teach her to help herself fall asleep. I guess it worked.

Also, I have a new favorite sound. Like I've said before, Lil Miss talks a lot and I love it. Sometimes she makes this sound that reminds me of Boo is Monsters, Inc. imitating the monsters or like a dinosaur or something. I call her my little dinosaur when she does it. But she also makes this absolutely adorable cooing sound that I just love and can't get enough of. I wish I could record it and put it on my phone as a ringtone -- I love it that much.

But right now? It's sleep time.

My Lil Miss, finally asleep (this was just five, maybe ten, minutes ago)

at least it's over now

Momma -- do you remember that book Where the Heart Is? With Novalee, who hated sevens and though they were bad luck? Well, today, I felt like I was channeling her. It is Lil Miss's seven week birthday and we had a difficult day.

It was a long LONG day.

I think Lil Miss is a little sick -- I think she had an upset tummy most of the day. (If you don't want to hear about Lil Miss's bodily things, go to the next paragraph). She had a very messy diaper this morning, after having one last night (less than twelve hours). And it seemed that every time she ate a bottle, she would get a small messy diaper. And she was extremely fussy and clingy all day and seemed a bit more gassy than usual. So I think she had an upset tummy.

Which, of course, means that Mommy had a long day. We went to work this morning / early afternoon cause Charles is in trial this week. Lil Miss went cause Daddy didn't get much sleep and also wanted to be able to go down and talk to some people about possible part time jobs. So Lil Miss went to work with me today and was very very fussy. So we had a very rough day.

I finally got her to pass out about an hour ago. Then I went to take a bath before coming on here and then going to sleep.

Sorry I don't have any pictures from today. I only have one taken, and it wasn't very good. I spent most of the afternoon / evening walking and bouncing on the sidewalk outside because she seemed to like being outside. We walked up to the corner store -- walking and bouncing -- and back and forth outside. She would calm down and then we would come back inside and within ten minutes, she'd be screaming again and back outside to the walking and bouncing we'd go.

Mommy's arms hurt and Mommy's tired.

If she does this again tomorrow, I'm calling her doctor.

and lil miss makes it all better

May 11, 2009

Yeah............Mommy was sick yesterday. I felt like crap. Even after I took my bath, I still felt like crap. So Lil Miss was a bit fussy and we were laying on the couch. Apparently we fell asleep -- and Daddy took a picture. I should kick him -- I LOOK sick. But it's a cute picture and, honestly, it's my favorite way to sleep now. I love cuddling with my little monkey -- she's such a good cuddlebug.

May 12, 2009

So Mommy worked today. And Lil Miss didn't. She stayed home with Daddy. And gave Daddy a taste of what Mommy has been trying to tell him for the last six weeks -- she's a good baby, but she's not always the easiest baby to take care of. She's put herself on a bit of a schedule -- wakes up between 7 and 9 and is awake til early afternoon (2 to 3ish). She wants to play in the mornings. She'll take little power naps, but not sleep much. Then she wakes up about 5 or 6ish and is awake until about 9 or 10, when she puts herself to bed for the night, just waking up to eat.

Daddy got a taste of Lil Miss being awake for a few good hours today. Maybe he won't think my job was so easy anymore. (c:

Don't look at the face -- look at how well she's sitting up!!! (Even if she does need some help)

So work wasn't bad, but it was hard. I just wanted to get everything done as quick as possible so I could get home. I missed my little bunny. As soon as I came home, even though she was asleep, I went and picked her up and held her for a bit and felt a bit better.

You would be proud of me -- I didn't really cry. It was hard and it sucked, but I didn't cry. It took longer to leave this morning than usual though, cause I didn't want to leave her and she was rather fussy.

I love her though. She seemed happy to see me tonight and was very sweet and cuddly. It's so good to come home and go to pick her up and see her smile when she sees me. Nothing better.

Watching Transformers (one of our favorite movies) with Daddy.

She likes the TV. I think she just likes the moving pictures and the flashing lights, but when she's laying on our bed with us, or on the couch with us, like above, she watches the TV. I know she doesn't understand it, but she watched Transformers with Daddy for a good twenty minutes. It was very cute.

Daddy says we need to get her some Baby Einsteins. He says they start at 3 months -- and that will be here before I know it!

Best picture we've managed of her sticking her tongue out. Her "yuck" face (like when she spits out her bottle cause she's done). It's TOO cute!

She's getting big. A friend of ours who hadn't seen her in like three weeks came by this evening and was just like "Wow, she's getting bigger!" I couldn't agree more. She's getting very heavy and very long. I think she's grown again. Her two month doctor's appointment is coming up in like a week and a half, so they'll be able to tell me how much she weighs and how long she is.

Though I'll also have to get her immunizations done. NOT looking forward to that part.

Finally zonked out -- and yes, she's sucking on her fingers.

And she's finally out. Mommy still doesn't feel good, so it's cheesecake time and then? Sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep.

and i'm a wreck

Sorry about not posting yesterday -- I wasn't feeling good at ALL and I worked and everything, so when I finally got Lil Miss down for the night, I went straight to bed. I actually asked for help last night, you should all be proud of me. I said the words "I need a break" because I was sick and needed to take a bath and try to feel better -- and I felt horrible doing it too.

So yeah -- working today. And, for the first time, I've left my Lil Miss. And I hate it. I'm a wreck -- I just want to get everything done and get home already. I'm waiting on someone to call me back and then I'm going home. Jimmy's been calling (he's feeling much much MUCH better, btw) so I know she's okay, but I'm still anxious and I still just want to go home so I can see her and hold her and love on her. I miss her.

It makes me feel like I'm going crazy!!

I'll post more -- with pictures too -- tonight. As soon as I get lots of loving and cuddle time with my sweet little girl!

my first mommy's day with the munchkin

May 10, 2009

Happy Mother's Day to all the women in my world again! I got to spend all day with my own little Mother's Day present and it was, of course, good. She was a little fussy at times but, hey, what baby isn't? She was also VERY cuddly for a good bit of the day, which is always nice.

Playing hide and seek with the camera.

Jimmy's still sick. I don't know what to do to fix it and I hate it. He's taking his medicine. He's not eating anything he shouldn't (he's really not eating anything). He drinking lots of liquids. And he's still sick.

I hate this.

It's stress that sets it off, I'm sure. His work stresses him out like crazy (not the work, but mainly the people he works with). So I talked to Charles today and he said he could come up with some more hours for me. And I'm still applying for other things and he's putting in a good word for me at one of the positions.

Basically, we're going to see what we can make work. I'm not sure Jimmy's going back to work and, if he does, it will not be as much, just a few days a week. He'll take care of Lil Miss during the day and I'll work as close to full time or more as I can.

Being a fussy little monkey.

Lil Miss is so good to me. She's so good at work -- she really is! Since I didn't get to work Thursday or Friday, and since Charles has a trial starting tomorrow, I worked yesterday and again today. Charles was there for awhile this morning and remarked on how good she is and how amazing it is that she just amuses herself (I always make sure to have Moo Cow and I take other toys too -- there's a drawer in my desk that has a few of her toys and such that I just leave there). She was perfect the whole time he was there. She's was perfect pretty much all day. She got a little fussy towards the end (when we'd been there for five and a half hours already) but that's to be expected and all that I had left to do was stuff I can do from home anyway.

She saved the being really fussy for when we got home.

We had a long evening -- I think she was gassy, so she was crying and fussy and just wanted to be held. I think it was part gassy, part hot (it's Key West in May -- it gets a bit warm), part sleepy (that she was fighting really hard) and I think part just grumpy/sad/had a long week and needed cuddle time. She did let me talk to Momma on Skype for awhile (so I could show off how big Lil Miss is getting!) but got really fussy after about fifteen minutes so we got off the phone. And I basically held, cuddled and bounced her for the next four hours.

But now she's sleeping and I think Mommy's going to head that way. I hope everyone had a good Mother's Day. Love you all!

Burying herself in Mommy's shoulder. I can't help but melt when she does that.

happy mommy day!

May 9, 2009

Yeah, yeah, I know that Mother's Day isn't until tomorrow, but most of you won't read this until the morning anyway, so I still maintain it's Happy Mother's Day to all my favorite mother's out there. And Lil Miss agrees -- see her little shirt? (c:

Yeah, I thought the Grandmas might appreciate that. Sorry she isn't smiling, but she was a bit of a grumpy butt at that moment.

Looking either contemplative, confused or just plain grumpy at work -- she has some of the CUTEST faces and poses!

Gramma and Laurie left today. )c: They came by this morning to see us before they headed back up the Keys. They had a lot of fun going out downtown last night, so that's good. They were showing me pictures this morning and they had some hilarious ones. Jimmy was feeling a little better. He's not really nauseous anymore, he just feels like crap. Probably because he hasn't really eaten much of, well, anything in like a week. I got him some chicken broth on my way home from work today, so hopefully he'll be able to eat that tomorrow. Right now, he took a Sominex to help him sleep and he's doing just that -- sleeping. Hopefully he'll be able to sleep well tonight -- he really didn't sleep all that well last night.

Lil Miss and I had an okay day. We got up pretty early and, after Gramma and Laurie headed out, went to work for awhile since I hadn't gone Thursday or Friday. We worked for about six hours (and I still have more I have to do tomorrow) before Lil Miss finally decided she was sick of work and wanted to go home already. So we did.

But when we got to work, there was a hand me down from Rae, the other woman that works in the office. A neighbor of hers had a little bouncy chair they were getting rid of and she took it and brought it to me. It's the chair Lil Miss is sitting in in that picture above. It's got a vibrating mode and also plays music if you want it to. Lil Miss seems to like it, so it's a good thing to have.

She gets some awesome hand-me-downs. We have the best family and friends in the world.

My little wiggle worm!

She is!! She is a complete wiggle worm. No matter how careful I am to put her directly in the center of her bassinet, straight, when I go in to pick her up cause she's awake or needs to be fed or changed, she's wiggled herself into some skewed and crazy position. At least she has better control of her head now and I'm not really worried about her getting stuck against the edge or suffocating herself, but seriously -- I've never seen someone move as much in their sleep as she does -- not even her Daddy, and he tosses and turns like crazy.

However, she doesn't do this when she's in bed with Mommy. Sometimes when she's restless and won't go back to sleep, I'll just lay her in bed next to me and curl around her. She either doesn't move or turns on her side and cuddles with me. It's very very sweet and I love it. But seriously, that's the ONLY time she doesn't move like a crazy little monkey when she's sleeping.

So yeah, tomorrow (well, technically today) is my "first" Mother's Day. Jimmy said the other day that he needed to get me something for Mother's Day. I told him not to, because I already have the only Mother's Day present I could want or need.

I have my Lil Miss.

i officially have the best baby ever

May 8, 2009

And another long day. Long couple of days. Heck, it's been a long long week.

Long story short: Gramma and Laurie have been here since Tuesday night and Jimmy has been sick most of it. He'll start to feel better, but then it all comes back and starts again and he's sick. He feels really bad right now because he feels like he's destroyed Gramma and Laurie's vacation, but they're still doing things because we're making them. No one is upset with him, obviously, but he's upset with himself and I don't know how to fix that. I also don't know how to make him not sick, which I HATE.

I do NOT like being helpless.

Lil Miss and Gramma -- all dressed up!

Lil Miss is officially the best baby ever. She spent most of the day in her car seat (I feel SO bad about that -- we were going to Theater of the Sea (hour and a half to two hour drive), Daddy got sick so we turned around when we got there and headed back, dropping him at the hospital in Marathon (hour and a half to two hours back), Mommy had to go pick up documents from work so I could work on them tonight (about thirty minutes in the car total) and then she and I went to pick him up when they released him (an hour each way). So all in all be spent eight to nine hours in her car seat in the car today. I feel like a horrible Mommy for that. )c: ) and she was so good the whole time! At one point, Gramma actually said she almost forgot the baby was even in the backseat because she was so quiet.

She is the best baby ever and we are incredibly spoiled. I joked today that I think she just wants a sibling, so she's being good so we won't swear off babies. (c: (But no -- no siblings any time soon).

Sleeping in her carseat during the long road trip.

I realized something last night that I hadn't really realized. It makes me incredibly anxious to be away from her. I don't like it. Even if I'm in our room and she's out in the living room with Daddy instead of in her bassinet next to me, I don't like it. It makes me anxious and upset. I want her with ME. I don't like leaving her or putting her down and I'm uncomfortable letting or asking other people to take care of her or help. Yes, it's making me tired. Yes, it's somewhat stressing me out. But I can't help it. It makes me so anxious I want to cry.

Seriously -- last night I was tired and stressed out to the point that I was about to cry and Jimmy wanted me to give her to Gramma and Laurie to hold for awhile while I tried to sleep and all I could think was "don't take my baby -- just don't take her. I want her here". She makes me feel better and not having her makes me feel worse.

Is this normal? It makes me feel slightly crazy!

(Sorry this is kinda short -- it's late, been a long week, I'm tired. I think I'm going to bed now.)

Friday, May 8, 2009

real quick -- there will be more later

May 6, 2009

I know, I know, I'm a slacker. But it's been a long view days -- Jimmy's been sick, I've been working and keeping the baby, Gramma and Laurie have been here and, also, the camera has been missing. So I don't have pictures from yesterday, but Laurie will be sending me some of the ones she took, so I'll post those when they get home and she sends them to me.

But Jimmy's better now, Mommy has slept and isn't stressed out and we're going to Theater of the Sea today to see dolphins and sea lions and all that good stuff. Should be fun. And I'll be working tonight and tomorrow morning.

So yeah, sorry for being a slacker, but my hands have been pretty full and we've been busy. So I'll post more later. Just wanted to say we're doing alright and haven't disappeared (c:

Tuesday, May 5, 2009

and she's finally here!!

May 5, 2009

Notice the blankets -- see how they aren't over her? There's a reason for that -- she kicks them. Lil Miss does not seem to really like blankets -- I think they make her mad. The only time she doesn't kick them off is late at night when she's zonked out cold.

It was a long day. A very very long day. We got up at six am to because Jimmy was still sick and needed his medicines, so Lil Miss and I loaded ourselves in the car and went to Walgreens. Only to find out that Walgreens pharmacy is no longer twenty fours hours. So we went home and got ready for work and waited until 7:15 am and went down and were the first to get there and put the prescriptions in.

Then we came home to give them to Jimmy. And turned right around and went down to work and got there before 8:30 am. And worked from the moment we got there straight through until 2:30 without much of a moment break. And then we still had to run errands -- grocery store, Ross for a couple of extra towels, KMart for an air mattress. And, of course, every where was busy and took forever.

We finally got home about 4:30. Lil Miss was hungry and fussy, Mommy was tired and exhausted and Daddy was sick.

LONG day.

Gramma's here!!!

And then, right about five o'clock, Gramma Barbara and Laurie pull in and, of course, cooing over the baby ensues. (c: No one can help but just love her and want to cuddle her. She's too cute for her own good. (c:

We were all so excited to see her! Jimmy hasn't seen his mother in over a year and, let me tell you, he has been ecstatic and looking forward to this since he found out it was even a possibility that she would be coming down. Even sick he was so happy when she called and said she was close by. I don't think I've seen him this excited about anything but the baby ever.

We went for a little drive to just show them some of the water and such and get a few things (margaritas, mainly). We were going to go get dinner, but Lil Miss got a little fussy (she was hungry -- I told you, she's a porker! Ask her Gramma -- she'll confirm it), so we came home and ordered good pizza instead. Then Jimmy went to get some sleep, Lil Miss zonked out and Gramma, Laurie and I watched American Idol cause we're dorks like that.

It was a good Key West evening.

And now, since it's been a long day for all of us, we're off to sleep early. Wow, early turn in -- it's amazing (though I'll be up in just a few hours to feed her. And a few more hours after that. *sigh* Mommys get no sleep). And as to what we'll do tomorrow? Who knows. I just know that Gramma wants some sun -- and Mommy would not at ALL be against it.

Monday, May 4, 2009

look at me! look at me! (and mommy makes a mistake)

May 4, 2009

Look at her! She did that all on her own with no help from Mommy and held that pose for a good two minutes. I'm so proud of her -- she's getting really good control of her neck.

And she rolled over! She rolled from her tummy to her back all on her own with no help and no prodding! I tried to get her to do it again so I could get it on film (cause of COURSE I didn't have the video part of the camera on and I wasn't taking pictures at that moment) but Lil Miss decided it was not rolling over time. It was, instead, cuddle and love on Lil Miss time. So we cuddled and loved on Lil Miss.

When you hold her up at your shoulder (like when you're burping her), she holds her head up and looks around. She likes mirrors and likes things that move (like, you know, the flashing lights on the television). Basically, she likes to stare at and watch things. When we're on the bus (and she's not asleep) she picks a spot and stares at it very very intently. There was actually a debate today on our way home from work (the bus was very full) amongst the other bus riders about what she was or was not staring at.

They were also all exclaiming over how cute she is. Everyone tells me that. And I just say "I know!"

Sleeping on Daddy's bean bag chair. And no, that's not a blankie. That's a burp cloth. When she's half asleep when being burped, she grabs on. And Lil Miss has a death grip when she wants to.

She sleeps well when she's out, but she's also good at fooling Mommy -- being asleep when I'm holding her but, as soon as I put her down, waking up. So I've stopped putting her down unless I KNOW she's out. Like when the arms go loose, the legs bounce when I'm rocking her and, well, the head would flop back if I would let it. You know -- OUT out. And then, and only then, Mommy puts her down to sleep. And like I said, she sleeps pretty well.

Oh, so yeah, Mommy made a mistake today. I've actually made it a time or two and I need to stop with it!

So Jimmy and I haven't exactly decided on what we're going to call Lil Miss from day to day. Her name is kind of long and, my guess is, it will get shortened at some point. There are a number of possible nicknames from her name, but right now, we tend to call her Munchkin, Honey, Sweetie or (in my case) Bunny. But today, at work, she was being a little fussy and I was walking her (cause Charles was on the phone on my desk and I didn't want her talking to get in the way) and talking to her. And know what I said? "Hush, little Angie, it's okay."

Angie. That is the one nickname I swore I wasn't going to use on her because, well, Anj is Anjie. It would be confusing if there were two of them. Thinking about it, I think I've made the mistake a few times. It just comes out, you know? I guess cause part of me is so used to saying it (you know, considering the fact that I've been calling my sister that for what, twenty five years? (Good gosh that makes me feel old. I was actually walking and talking over twenty five years ago!)) so it just comes out without me thinking about it.

But I do not want to make Anj share her name, or make Lil Miss share her name. I would prefer not to have any of the "Big Anjie" / "Little Angie" kind of deals that I've seen in some families. It gets confusing after awhile.

So yeah, no calling her Angie. Bad, Mommy. No cookie for you! (but I don't eat cookies........so why do I care about that?)

Okay then -- no Sprite for you! (okay. That's a threat!)

Watching big brother Zeus watching her. They had a staring contest.
Was mondo cute.

So Grandma Barbara and her friend Laurie (or is it Lori? -- Uncle Camron's girlfriend's mother) are coming into town tomorrow night and we can't wait. We're very excited. Though it also makes me miss my mommy (but then again, I pretty much always miss Maminka). We've so got to try to make a road trip to Georgia and Carolina this summer!

Jimmy's still kind of sick. He's been asleep all day, so I think he's doing a little better, but he's still sick and feels horrible and there's nothing I can do about it and I HATE that. Oh, and I tripped on an XBox cord tonight and, being that I was holding Lil Miss at the time, I wasn't exactly able to catch myself well. Luckily, I didn't fall and I didn't drop (or even wake up) the baby, but I stepped really wrong and hurt my foot and ankle. )c: Not fun. It hurts.

But hey -- I've been there before, done that before. I'll deal and be fine.

I'm just glad Lil Miss didn't get hurt. I would never ever forgive myself.

could it be a birthmark?

May 2, 2009

I know, I know, I missed a day. I'm sorry! It's been a very long weekend.

Daddy called about noon yesterday to tell me he needed me to start a bath running because he was sick. )c: So Jimmy's been sick all weekend and Lil Miss was wide awake and fussy last night, so I just didn't get a chance to post. By the time she went to sleep, I was so exhausted, I just crashed.

So I spent yesterday during the day taking care of Jimmy, Lil Miss and finishing all the unpacking and getting the house all set up. Everything has a place and it's probably as "done" as it's going to be with a baby in the house. (c: Zeus is still investigating (I think he thinks that Lil Miss' room is actually his, though that's not surprising, considering that she doesn't really sleep in there yet) and I think he's decided that this house is acceptable. Jimmy and I love it and Lil Miss, well, she doesn't know what's going on. As long as she's fed and loved, she's happy.

May 3, 2009

So yeah, Mommy didn't sleep much last night. Between Lil Miss waking up to be fed and Jimmy getting up through the night, I don't think I got more than twenty minutes of straight sleep all night. I finally gave up trying to sleep this morning about 9:30 and Lil Miss and I got ready to go to work and then, of course, went to work. Because she was so fussy Friday, I had things I needed to get done before tomorrow morning. But she was pretty good this afternoon and let me get everything done (she mainly watched Mommy work and cuddled with Moo Cow. Yes, she is trying to eat his ear in that picture above).

Lil Miss is a rather talkative baby. I wouldn't call her a fussy baby, because most days she doesn't really cry that much unless I'm not making her bottle quick enough or she's telling me she's wet or pooping, but she does grumble and "talk" a lot. She grumbles in her sleep a good bit -- I think when she's dreaming but, of course, I don't know for sure. It's pretty cute though.

She also does this thing when I'm holding her that I call "petting". Quite often when being held, she'll end up in with one are behind me. And usually, when she's eating or being cuddled, she'll pull that arm to me so her hand is at my lower back and then she'll "pet" me. It's very cute and sweet and, though I'm sure she doesn't do it on purpose, I love it. She also tends to hold my hand or finger when she's eating and, when we're riding home on the bus, she tends to hold my hand the whole way (usually while sleeping -- the bus has a tendency to knock her out cold very quickly).

Sleeping at the office today.

So, do me a favor and look very very close at her forehead -- do you see that "V" right above the bridge of her nose? Because I can't seem to *not* notice it. It's not there all the time -- mainly when she is or has just been being fussy, when she's mad or (I'm assuming on this one) when she's sick.

Mommy has one just like it. Momma said it was how she could tell if I was really sick because it wasn't always visible -- only when I was angry, stressed, or sick. Are birthmarks hereditary? So I know that doesn't make any sense and they can't possibly, but seriously -- that looks just like my birthmark.

When will we know whether or not it's going to stay? Is it possible that there is something in my genes that I could pass on that would make it more likely that she would get a birthmark? I don't want her to have to deal with it all her life, so I'm hoping it doesn't stay -- but when will I know? Momma -- when did you realize mine was going to be permanent? Was it obvious when I was a baby?

let's go heat!

May 1, 2009

It was another long day. Lil Miss has apparently decided that naps (other than ten minute cat naps) are for other people and that being awake is what all the cool kids do!

Cause she does NOT want to sleep during the day. Not that big a deal, I knew it would come at some point, I just thought it would be a little longer before the "Sleep? I don't need no sleep!" phase. Oh well!

She was a major grumpy butt today though. I don't know what was wrong. She was fussy and crying all afternoon at work -- I couldn't put her down at all because she would scream and even holding her, she was still fussy. I would have come home and just gone in Sunday (I'm still going to have to go in Sunday) but I had to wait for another attorney to come pick up a file. So we still ended up being at work for a good bit of the afternoon.

She was fussy enough that I took her temperature to see if she was sick, but she doesn't seem to be. She seems to just be fussy today.

But she's better now. She's out cold at the moment.

One of the few non-fussy moments at work today -- that position canNOT be comfortable for her little neck! But every time I fix it, she goes right back to this.

The apartment is coming along well. I'm almost completely through with the putting away and putting things up on the walls and stuff. I need a bookcase and a dresser (because Lil Miss, with all her new clothes, commandeered mine), but those can wait. You'd be shocked what people will throw away down here -- I'm sure I'll be able to find some. Maybe I'll hit a yard sale or two tomorrow if there are some close by.

I went through the clothes we inherited yesterday this afternoon and decided what we're keeping and such. Most of it has been put away now. I'll post pictures of the new apartment once everything finds its place.

Watching the Heat game with Daddy. He swears she's a good luck charm for them -- they won!

So, once we got home and then once Daddy got home, we ate dinner and then watch the Miami Heat beat the Hawks by like 30 points. It was a fun game and Jimmy insisted on putting Lil Miss in his Miami jersey for awhile. I think it's the funniest site I've ever seen.

But I still maintain that she's cute no matter what she wears.

Oh, and Anj, you know how I told you she had inherited some organic onesies? That pink striped one in the top picture and the picture below is one of them. It's really cute. And it snaps all the way down so you don't have to pull it over her head!! (Daddy HATES that part of dressing her because sometimes it makes her cry.

Daddy doesn't like it at ALL when Lil Miss cries.)

Getting kisses from Daddy in her organic onesie. She sure does love her Daddy!

i don't think lil miss has enough clothes...

April 30, 2009

My little bunny rabbit and I had a long day. (For some reason that pose above reminds me of a rabbit -- she does it a lot, which is one of the reasons I call her bunny)

Lil Miss decided to wake up at nine am this morning (not a problem -- Mommy's up at that time anyway) and then decided, specifically, that she was going to be so not tired! all day long. As in, from nine am until about fifteen minutes ago she didn't sleep for more than ten minutes at a time and those were few and far between -- she was awake all day.

She hasn't done that yet. And she wanted to be held most of the day too. Not bad, but makes things interesting. I learned to use the copier one handed today and I did a good bit of one handed typing. She was still a very good girl at work, I just had to hold her.

So yeah. Long day. Mommy is glad tomorrow is Friday, if only because it means the next day is Saturday. While I don't specifically get "a day off", I'll at least be able to be home all day and maybe get some more stuff done here.

She tried to pet a dog today. At least I think she was trying to pet her. Sarah Belle (Charles' dog) was at the office today like she is most days and Charles was in with a client, so Sarah Belle was sitting behind me. She decided to say hi to Lil Miss, so she started sniffing Lil Miss' foot and gave it a lick. Lil Miss immediately reached out for her. I think she was trying to pet Sarah Belle, which I found extremely cute.

Hey, Lil Miss pets Mommy, why shouldn't she pet the dog?

No, she doesn't have enough clothes at all!!!

Can't you just see the sarcasm dripping off the words? And that's not even all her clothes -- that's just the newborn / 0-3 month clothes that haven't been put away yet!!

Last night, when I was coming home from work, I ran into one of our old neighbors while she was visiting a friend across the street. Of course she had to see Lil Miss (she saw me walking by and came running out). Well, she has a little girl who is about a year and a half. She had kept all of her daughter's clothes because her cousins was pregnant, but her cousin ended up having a little boy. So she asked if I could use a few things and I said sure it couldn't hurt.

Well, "a few things" ended up being about four garbage bags FULL of baby clothes -- most of it under three month size, which is exactly where Lil Miss is. There are also some cute bigger things (oh yeah -- and none of the stuff Grandmas Lynn or Barbara have sent us are in the above picture -- that's ALL new stuff from today) which are in the pile (not folded) that's like half on the right of the picture. And there are so many cute things! I swear there are enough sleepers for her to wear a different one each night for a month!

We aren't going to keep all of it. There's just too many and we don't have room for all of it. I didn't realize just how much it was until I was unpacking. So I haven't put it away yet. I'm going to go through everything tomorrow and pick out the stuff I like the best to keep (and some of the sleepers are really probably too heavy for her anyway) and then put the rest aside to go to Second Hand Sams, or maybe home with Grandma Barbara when she's here next week to go to the flea market. But we definitely have enough clothes to last us for quite awhile.

It's amazing.

Watching Daddy adoringly. I think it's one of her favorite things to do!

Aaaaaaaaaaaaand it's chocolate pie and then bath time for this Mommy -- then sleep. Love you all!

"i'm a rockstar!!"

April 29, 2009

Yes, Lil Miss has a mohawk. Yes, Mommy and Daddy are dorks. Our daughter is a rockstar and I love it. (c:

So, Lil Miss had her first bath in the new apartment tonight, in the bathtub. She seemed to like it. We filled it enough that there was some water above the very bottom of the seat so she was sitting in warm water. She liked that a good bit. But, she's a little wiggle worm so we have to be really careful. Cause she tries to wiggle her way out of the seat (not good!) or down in the seat (again, not good). Not good cause I don't want her getting her down in the water and, you know, going INTO the water. Bad bad bad, of course. So you have to keep one hand on her at all times.

Not a bad thing, not hard, it's just something we have to remember to do cause she's my little wiggle worm. But she likes the warm and the water and the feeling of being bathed. She doesn't even fuss when you pour water over he head. She just doesn't like the cold world once she's taken OUT of the water. (c:

Hence the fussiness in her cute little mohawk picture.

Pictures of her "faces". Clockwise from the top left: her "confused" face, her "grumpy" face, her "sleepy" face, her "happy" face, her "my-parents-are-crazy" face, her "yuck" face (the face she makes when she spits out her binky or pushes away a bottle cause she's done) and her "suprised" face.

Lil Miss makes some of the cutest faces. The above is compiled from just taking pictures rapidly over and over for about five minutes this afternoon at work. I have a video of her too; I'll try to get it up soon cause it's very cute. Her making her little faces and noises. They're awfully cute.

So we finished moving completely today. Everything is in the new apartment and the old apartment is clean. Almost everything is unpacked. I cleaned this morning while Daddy watched the baby (it was his day off again) and then Lil Miss and I went to work. She was actually awake most of the morning and a good bit of the afternoon. She's started staying awake a good bit. It's very cute and fun cause it means I actually get to play with her, which is cool.

She's also started being able to get herself back to sleep when she starts to wake up if she's not hungry or wet. That's nice too.

She's the cutest, sweetest little baby. She's so good and doesn't really have fits unless there's a really good reason. I know I've said this before, but we are very lucky and very very spoiled by this munchkin.

Also, I want to try and do a blessing for Lil Miss at some point this summer. I was talking to Anj about it because I was thinking of doing a baptism, but that's not exactly our thing, you know? That really wasn't what I wanted to do, but I couldn't think of what to call it. She suggested doing a "blessing" instead, that we can create how we want to.

So I want to try and do it. I'm not sure when or where, but I want as much of the family to be able to be there as possible, so my guess it, well, not here, but somewhere between the two families. Maybe this summer? I don't know, we'll see. Mainly it's just a heads up and I'll keep everyone in the loop. (c:

Now, I go watch Yes Man with Jimmy and then sleep. Love you all!

Lil Miss being her cute, adorable little self. HOW can you not just adore that baby?

and now back to our regularly scheduled programming!

April 27, 2009

I apologize that we missed a day yesterday. Yesterday was the day everything was getting transferred over to the new apartment -- cable, internet, all that good stuff -- and we were moving the rest of the stuff. Jimmy was working, but I took the day off so I could be here when the techs showed up and so I could move things and we could hopefully have just the big stuff remaining when Jimmy got home.

Didn't work exactly that way, but I had a lot of it. However, our internet company switched the service over, but they conveniently forgot to check their records and see if our new apartment was wired for internet and they just had it switch over instead of sending out a tech. Well, guess what?

Our new apartment wasn't wired for internet so it didn't work. I called last night to see why we still didn't have a signal and they couldn't figure it out so they sent out a tech this morning. He knew what the problem was in five minutes and was done in less than thirty. Really -- was that so hard? Why couldn't they have done that yesterday so I could have posted last night and I wouldn't have had a grumpy Daddy who couldn't play online with his boys? (c:

April 28, 2009

But all is good now. We have electric, water, cable and internet at the new apartment. All our stuff has been moved (almost all of it put away) and everything is out of the old apartment (including the kitty, who decided to get out and go MIA for about six hours yesterday. Not fun for a worried Mommy). We've cleaned the old apartment and we're going to clean it again tomorrow. We'll be out a day and a half early, since we're doing that in the morning (cause Lil Miss and I are going to work tomorrow afternoon). The new apartment is pretty much set up. Lil Miss has her own room (even if she's not sleeping in it yet) and there's plenty of room for all our stuff -- we can spread out some. And things are actually *arranged*. It's amazing -- it looks like a real home.

It's great. I love it.

"Look at me! I'm trying to stand up!" (You might not be able to tell, but she's pushing down with her feet, trying to push herself up)

Lil Miss has been as good as she can be through this whole moving process and I'm grateful for that. She was really good at work today -- she did some absolutely *adorable* cuddling with Moo Cow, but I forgot to take the camera with me, so I didn't get pictures of it, sadly. Oh well, I'm sure she'll do something just as cute tomorrow. She always does. She makes some of the cutest faces and noises. I really should try and get them on video to show her off.

I have, I think, the cutest baby in the universe.

Sitting up (almost) on her own

I think Lil Miss is doing really good developmentally. She holds her head up really well and for a long time. Her neck muscles are getting really strong. She's eating more at each feeding and she's being awake for longer and waking up for reasons other than just "I'm wet" or "I'm hungry". There are times now she really wants to play. She's trying to turn over too, though she can't exactly figure it out.

And she gives head butts. She doesn't do it on purpose and she has no *clue* what they are, but she does it anyway and I love it. Considering that Mommy head butts people (well, mainly, Daddy and Zeus) she fits right into the family that way.

Thumbs up! I think she likes her new apartment

So yeah, it's been a LONG week of little to no sleep trying to get everything moved and watch Lil Miss, but it's worth it. We have the new apartment and we love it. Oh and Mommy got to take a bath -- a real bath -- tonight. Daddy listened for the little one for awhile (she was (and still is) asleep) and Mommy got to sit in the nice hot bath I've been craving since last fall.

It was great. Definitely going to have to do that more often. I think Lil Miss is going to get her first bath in there tomorrow night after we get home from work.

All I have left to do is reorganize and put away all the clothes (we sent out a lot of laundry today -- though hopefully there will be a washer and dryer in our near future so *I* can do our laundry easily), hang the posters / prints / pictures that are going in our room, the nursery and the living room and unpack two boxes of "the leftovers" -- just little stuff that wasn't worth carrying over one by one. After that, everything will have a home in the new apartment and we'll be ready for Grandma Barbara to come visit next week. We can't wait. Daddy is ecstatic. And I know Lil Miss will be very happy.

I'm pretty excited too. (c:

Big Brother decided that Lil Miss needed to share her crib. Until we get a mat for it, he can sit there. Once we get a mat? No more.
